Hot World Cuisine

Hot World Cuisine is a buffet based on Paisley Road in Glasgow. This buffet has food from countries across the world, including Chinese, Indian, Italian, and Pakistani. Interior The restaurant had a beautiful interior, with chandeliers hanging from the ceiling that lit up the restaurant, graffiti artwork on the walls of different cities, and cultural statues, giving it a very luxurious and authentic atmosphere. The restaurant was quite spacious so there were many tables, allowing them to cater for different sized groups and families, giving the impression that it is a popular restaurant. Food The food, however, was average. It wasn’t awful, but at the same time, it didn’t wow me enough to go back, unfortunately. I decided to have vegetable gyozas, fried rice, chicken curry, and popcorn chicken. The chicken curry was probably the best part of my meal, however, I wasn’t a big fan of the fried rice as it had a weird taste to it, similar to microwavable rice, which is always a hit or miss....

Budget Nando's?

Black Rooster Peri Peri

Black Rooster Peri Peri is a relatively new and fast-growing franchise, with 15 stores across Scotland, and plans to expand across the rest of the UK. I recently came across this restaurant in Paisley while looking for a place to eat before work, meaning it was completely new to me and I was unsure of what to expect. However, I was told it was a “budget Nando’s” and that’s exactly what it was.

The layout of this restaurant was unusual as all the tables were lined up against the wall with some booths at the back against the opposite wall. This left a lot of unused space, which could have been utilised better in my opinion. The interior was quite basic with grey leather booth seats and yellow chairs, along with dimmed lightbulbs which hung over the table, adding to the simplistic aesthetic.

The Black Rooster Peri Peri menu features a wide variety of delicious food, including grilled chicken, burgers, pittas and wraps, plus sides, desserts and drinks. The menu was pretty similar to the menu of the popular UK food chain Nando’s, from the spices of the chicken to their famous peri peri chips. I ordered a mild Chicken Panini, Peri Peri Chips, side of Halloumi Fries, and a Sprite. The panini tasted amazing, with its mild spices and soft chicken chunks, making it unique to Black Rooster, however, the Peri Peri chips were almost identical to its notorious counterpart. The drinks were quite bland considering they were advertised as the branded drinks, they tasted more like watered down club drinks, but without the alcohol. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was in Black Rooster and could overlook the flavourless drinks considering the rest of the meal was pretty much perfect.

The food prices were really affordable, unlike those at Nando’s, making it more budget friendly for students and young people. Mains ranged from £4.50 to £7.50 plus an extra £2.40 to make it a meal. The proportion sizes were very generous and filled me up quickly, to the point I still had food left over, making it 100% worth the price. There was definitely no half filling of the chips, unlike some fast-food restaurants.

Overall: 7.5/10
